We arrived into Denver in the early hours and we had to wait for a second shuttle bus to come and fetch us, so were exhausted when we arrived at the hotel. Being told breakfast was 7-9am was not good, but we did get up, eat breakfast and decided to go back to bed. Headed in to Denver in the afternoon. It was a long walk to the station, but the train was great, and there was also a free frequent bus running down the main Mall. We then wandered for a while, past their modern art museum which we already knew would be closed on a Monday, but there were some very large pieces outside.
We visited the History Colorado Centre. The exhibition were interesting, but so too was the building.
We then walked back past the Colorado State Capitol where there is a monument to the men who lost their lives in the civil war, but there is also a plaque alongside it explaining the controversy over the memorial as many of the 1826 names were from what has now been accepted as a massacre.
We had been warned that we would struggle to find good beer and good food in the US; but so far we have found both; the restaurant in Denver claiming to have the biggest collection of craft beers in the world proved to have not only good beer, but very good food too.
