We headed up from just South of Fort Collins

The scenery for most of the drive up was dramatic, large area of grassland disappearing off in all directions

But interspersed with impressive rock structures, some which also stretched off for miles.

Most of the road stretched off straight ahead, but there were some impressive swooping curves.

We made it to Douglas which is near the centre of the line of totality for the eclipse which is still four days away.

We have a pitch for two days at this much nicer campsite (KOA Douglas), but they are fully booked after Friday night, even though they seem to have expanded their site capacity considerably.

We have managed to book another site which will cover us Saturday through to Tuesday. This seems to be run by the local youth ice hockey team, who are making space available at a price almost four times where we are now, and no water or electricity there either, but it is for charity and apparently other sites are asking even more! We’ll see how crazy it gets…
