Seems that the New Yorker hotel was leading edge. Coincidentally it is also where Nikolai Tesla died.
We did a fairly quick walk up to central park before checking out of our Manhattan hotel. This carousel was restored in 1982, it is in a permanent building in Central Park.
The ceiling of the building at the end of the Mall is gloriously tiled
The sign by the smaller lake in Central Park said there were patches of algal bloom…seemed a bit more extensive than that
Bethesda fountain looking back towards the arched building at the end of the Mall.
The Petrossian Building near Central Park is justifiably famous for the density of the decoration on the stonework
Carnegie Hall is just down from the Petrossian building:
Times Square! Not every building there is shiny and new or covered in advertising screens
Made it back to the hotel in time to check out and set off to Newark Airport to collect the car, and drive up to Dover, New Jersey which took about an hour. Of course the car was an automatic, but we managed OK.
The hotel was in a slightly unusual location – on the edge of the huge car park around a big shopping mall. We walked over to see what was there – lots of shops selling stuff that we didn’t need. There was an OK burger bar that did good beer though, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.
