We got up early in the morning to watch the sunrise hit the Tetons. It was really quite cold, and the sky was a bit hazy still, from the wildfires in Montana and Idaho, so the sunrise wasn’t as good as it could have been.

But we did see an otter out for an early morning swim

The sunrise on the mountains was still pretty though:

We did a short walk at Jenny Lake – it seemed appropriate given that the RV was called ‘Jennie’. The lake seems to go right up to the mountains. Apparently there is a walk that goes all the way around the lake – but we just didn’t have time for that, unfortunately…

The Tetons are quite nice mountains, but they probably didn’t seem so impressive to us as we are used to seeing the Alps and similar. Most mountains here seem not to be too classically rocky like this, so perhaps that is why the Americans seem to like them so much.

We then drove through Jackson – the town square has amazing arches built of horns on each corner of the square:

We stayed at the Gros Ventre camp site, which was quite good for wildlife. This is a North American Robin – quite a bit bigger than the British ones we are used to:

We think that this is a mountain bluebird…

… they were certainly quite blue from behind and when they took off:

We did another short walk around sunset, and this shows how hazy the sky is

The Tetons still look quite impressive as the sun sets:
